Winter Kisses

Hi There! Kim here with a Christmas card to kick off Christmas in June. What a way fun to get a head start on your Christmas cards. I created a quick card using Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps' snowflake die for the main focus. I popped the snowflake up using 3-d foam tape. The snowman paper and blue cardstock was distressed with distressing ink. The twine is then added to finish the card.

All supplies can be purchased at A Scrap 'N Place:

Inks: Tim Holtz Distressing Ink, Black ink
Papers: Glitter White Cardstock, Brown Cardstock, Bazzill green textured Cardstock, Blue Cardstock
Accessories: The Twinery Green and white twine
Tools: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Snowflake die set

Simple Graduation

Let the madness begin, how many Grad parties do you need to attend this year?  We only have 2 that I know of and that isn't parties just kids I need to send cards to.  This card was so simple to put together, that is why I love using dies.  The Paper is from Authentique and the Cap is by Taylored Expressions.  I used Nestibilities on the circle and a border punch on the blue layer.  All materials can be found at A Scrap-N-Place.

Here is a list of the supplies used:

Grey Card stock
Acetate (for the shop window)

I then stamped the sentiment onto the cream cardstock and matted it onto the patterned paper and black background using 3-D foam tape. The bow is then tied using black organza ribbon and a clear rhinestone added to the center. I colored the rhinestone using a light brown Copic marker.

Papers: Bazzill (black), cream cardstock, Authentique (Abroad Voyage)
Inks: Copic, Memento Tuxedo Black

Friend

I am back with a second post today, for this card I am again using paper by Authentique.  The base dies are called Banner Stacklets2.  The flower is from the set Posh Posies from Taylored Expressions and the Vase die is Posh Vases by Taylored Expressions.  The friend die is from Cheery Lyn and I added some bling to the center of the flower and for the dot in the letter I.  All supplies can be found at A Scrap-N-Place.

Poppies X Watercolor

So, I've been participating in the Watercolor for Cardmakers class with Online Card Classes.  I have done quite a few cards with some different types of techniques, but I decided to do a couple with the Penny Black Poppies that I have been working with.  This is one of them.

The white panel is stamped with the poppies image in Memento Black, which doesn't run with water.
Next, I masked the poppies and leaves by "painting" them with rubber cement.  I didn't have any masking fluid and rubber cement was available.

Next comes the watercolor.  I used my regular tube watercolors.  You could use Crayola pan watercolors if you like...or reinkers diluted with water...or distress inks...whatever.  I took ultramarine blue and neutralized it with a touch of orange, and brushed 4 swipes with a wide watercolor brush.  I let it dry and rubbed off the rubber cement.  The flowers were painted with yellow and red...just very rough brush strokes...and the leaves with a green blend that was on my palette.  You can't be too persnickety with this technique!

Cardstock in white and yellow

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink again - thank you Terri for having me back.  Today I have a cute card which I made with one of the Prima Doll stamp and die sets.  I am having waaaaay too much fun with these (I feel like a little girl again!)

The trickiest part of the card was getting the song lyrics around the outside of the card, which I did with my Silhouette Cameo (this could also be done on a computer word program.)

I am starting to get a bit brave with these dolls and drawing a couple of features on the face (it's a work in progress.)  I also added an umbrella - cut from a file on the Silhouette Cameo.

Here is a list of the supplies used, available from A Scrap N Place:
  • Prima Doll Stamps (and die)
  • Authentique Paper – Classique - Elegant
  • Grey card stock
  • Pink card stock
  • Black Pearls
  • Swiss Dots embossing folder
Thanks for stopping by today.  See you next time.

World Traveler

Hi There! Today's card features this beautiful world map paper from Authentique paired with Simple Stories brown plaid paper. I die cut the square scallop using Spellbinders' Nestabilities. The brown plaid was freehand cut. I also did the compass by hand. I cut the background paper into 1 x 1/2" strips then cut again to form triangles. I then glued the triangles together to form a mariner's compass. It is popped onto the cream cardstock using 3-D foam tape. The numbers are from a strip of the Authentique Abroad Voyage paper. I added some stitching to finish the card. This would be a wonderful masculine card for Father's Day.

Supplies:
Papers: Authentique (Abroad Voyage), Simple Stories (Generation)
Inks: Rangers Distressing ink
Accessories: brad?
Tools: Spellbinders (Square Scalloped Nestabilities)

A different way to do flowers

Here's a different technique for using the Penny Black poppies...

For this card, I stamped the poppies (I omitted the tall poppy on the left side of the stamp) with versamark and embossed black.  Now the paper I used is the reverse side of the green script from a couple of weeks ago.  Then I used prismacolor pencils to color the poppies.  I wanted to maintain the translucency and see the writing thru the color.

The stamped panel is mounted on ivory then on an avocado green card base.  Twine in avocado green makes the bow and there's a sprinkling of greenish-tannish pearls across the front.

Cardstock in Avocado green and ivory

Friendship Gift Bag

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink - as always Terri thank you so much for letting me play at 'your place'.  I have a really simple project today, once again with the Prima Dolls.  This time I played with the stamp and die sets.  Although I really love 'fussy' cutting and paper-piecing, I know not everyone does - these stamp and die sets are just perfect - so quick and easy.  I recycled this plain white gift bag, with 3 Prima dolls in coordinating outfits - how cute!

I made the gift tag with a computer generated sentiment.

Here is a list of the supplies used, all available from A Scrap N Place:
  • Prima Doll Stamp (and die)
  • Authentique Paper – Classique - Elegant
  • Pearls/Gems (coloured with alcohol markers)
  • Ribbon
  • Sentiment (computer generated)

Thanks for stopping by to check out my project today, see you next time.

Congrats

Hi There! This is Kim with another quick masculine card to get you ready for graduation and Father's Day coming up. This a larger stamp than I am used to, but it stamps beautifully. The stamp is from C Thru the Woods. I colored this guy in using Copic markers and used the blender marker to soften some of the ink.
I then used a corner rounder for the corner of the cardstock. The image and sentiment is popped onto the card using 3-D foam tape. Last is the ribbon. This is a quick card you can whip up for any occasion.

Supplies: (all supplies can be purchased at A Scrap 'N Place)

Stamps: C Thru the Woods
Papers: Authentique (Suave), Navy cardstock, White cardstock
Inks: Copic, Black
Accessories: Brown ribbon

Bold Poppies

It's Friday again...and I had an unschedules just "lovely" trip to the dentist this morning.  Ah, well.  Sometimes those things happen.

This is a simple card (have you figured out yet that I like simple?!).  The designer paper is mounted on the front of the card base, and the poppies are mounted directly on the designer paper.  The greeting is glued on the side edges and popped up in the middle.

So...how did I do the poppies?  They actually are ones I made first for last week's card and I goofed them up.  There are ways to use your mistakes though.  In this case, I cut out two sections of the stamped, embossed and colored poppies and rearranged them to put on the front.  They are on vellum and I cut the vellum very close to the embossing.  Betcha can't tell it!

Supplies
White cardstock
Vellum
Designer paper from the Color Me Happy line by Glitz
Pearls from Zva Creative
Water-based markers
Greeting stamp is from Stampin' Up

All the best to you...

I'm here on this fine cloudy cool Wednesday morning with another project for you to try.  I'm continuing to use the same Penny Black stamp and stencil for my projects this month.

This card was done with only the stencil.  I started by attaching my stencil to the sheet of aqua paper with a bit of washi tape.  I used that because it comes off of the paper without damaging it!  Then I used a versamark pad to ink the paper in the openings of the stencil.  You have to do quite a bit of tap-tap-tapping to get an even coverage.  Then, because the stem lines are pretty fine, I used a versamark pen to make sure that I got the stems and the tips of the leaves.  After taking the stencil off the paper I embossed with white embossing powder.

The variations in shading behind the flowers was created by sponging matching ink onto the paper.  A sentiment, some pearls, a white mat and attaching to a card of the same color as the top layer completes this simple, pretty card.  I used a hexagonal punch to create the points on the sentiment layer, which is attached with dimensionals.

Supplies:
cardstock in aqua and white
inks: versamark and black
pearls by Zva Creative.
