Poppies for Memories

Here's another card made with the Penny Black poppy die...this time with colored papers instead of stamping.  I added a touch of shading to the flowers...unfortunately it isn't as evident in the photo as it is in real life!

Just a note about using vellum on your cards.  Most adhesives show through!  Bummer!  So I've learned to put my adhesives behind the design elements on the front.  So dimensional foam is behind the flowers and banner.

Supplies
White cardstock for the card base and greeting
Reminisce patterned paper for the card front
Vellum for the banner
Red and avocado cardstock for the flowers
Twine from May Arts
Pearls from Zva Creative

Stamped Candle (Prima Doll)

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from  Lady of Leisure Ink. Today is my last Prima Doll project for this month.  No cards or tags today, but rather I have stamped the image on to a candle.

I'm sure many of you have done this before, but if not here is a great video showing you all the steps.  Here are the products I used.

  • Prima Doll Stamp
  • Tissue paper
  • Candle
  • Markers
  • Stamp (from Stampin’ Up)
  • Ribbon

A very quick and simple project which makes the perfect little gift.

See you next time.

A Butterfly of a Different Color

Here's another one for you to try...

This one is a bit more ornate, but still somewhat easy to execute.

The card base is vanilla and to make the designer paper panel, I used a piece of cardstock with the two papers layered onto it.  That gave me a stiffer panel to handle the twill tape that was tied on next.

The diecut butterfly is done in kraft and white papers, and I sponged the white paper with a blue-green ink to match the papers (it does match, regardless of how it looks in the photo!).  The butterfly is sprayed with Glimmer mist after gluing it together.  Just a bit of shimmer!  I cut the swirl die once and cut it into three pieces for what you see here.  Pearls were added last.

Supplies
Vanilla cardstock
Designer papers from Authentique (Promise Two) (top) and Glitz (Uncharted Waters) (bottom)
Fancy Flourish Die from Die-namics, butterfly die from Impression Obsession
Twill Tape from May Arts
Pearls from Zva Creative

White Rules!

For those of you who are familiar with my work on Splitcoaststampers, you know that my work is usually very clean.  I don't like a lot of visual distraction...maybe that's why everything in my crafty space has a place.  This card showcases my usual style very well.  Try it out and see what you think!

To make this card, I began with a white card base.  Then I put a piece of the turquoise gingham on the front of the base.  The next layer is white as well and the oval is cut with a Spellbinders oval.  Next the poppies and butterfly layer are cut and attached and the front is embellished with pearls.

Simple to make!  But elegant!

Supplies
White cardstock
Gingham paper from Reminisce...an Easter paper
Dies are Prim Poppy from Memory Box and butterfly is from Impression Obsession
Pearls are from Zva Creative

Girlfriends Card

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink.  My card today is probably one of my favorites so far.  I decided to use just the top half of the Prima Doll stamps for this card.

Here are the products I used.

  • Prima Doll Stamp
  • Green card stock (Bazzil)
  • Copper card stock
  • Brown Swirl card stock (Canvas Corp)
  • Pearls
  • Sentiment  (computer generated)
  • ProMarkers (or any alcohol markers for colouring)
What I really love about this project is that I only used a couple of sheets of card stock (one plain, one patterned) and a few coordinating markers.  Here are a few close-ups.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Easter!

Hi there, It's Ceal here sharing with you today, with it being Easter I almost forgot to post.
I made this card a while back but never shared and it fits today perfectly. I used a set and dies from Sweet 'n Sassy which you can find at A Scrap N Place and if Terri doesn't have it she can get it for you :)

Springtime is here!

I do like spring!  I like being outside.  I wish I had a garden.  I just don't like bugs.  They make a mess of my car when I drive.  They want to be in the house...maybe they just want a warm night.  And I really don't like caterpillars...but I love butterflies!  They're so pretty!

This one is an orangey-red...like oriental poppies.  I used the complementary color of a greenish-blue to sponge the front panel.  The swirl die is in an avocado green textured cardstock.

Now, I was trying to give the impression of white fuzzy flowers on that flourish.  Don't know if I accomplished my goal. ;)

By the way, the card base here is narrow.  I think I cut it 4 inches wide instead of 4-1/4 and the greeting is wider, with the ends even with the edge of the card so the middle pops up.

Supplies:

Butterfly Die from Impression Obsession
Flourish Die from Die-Namics
White, Red, Black, Avocado cardstocks

Inks from Stampin' Up
Pearls from Zva Creative

Penny Black Garden...

Penny Black has some beautiful options...with a stamp set called Blooming Garden and this die called Field of Dreams.  For this image, I colored the stamp with markers and stamped on white cardstock, then cut with the die.  It cuts RIGHT on the edge of the image.  Beautiful results!

I like this asymmetrical layout with this paper.  It has become a popular layout online recently.

Supplies:
White Cardstock
Patterned paper from Authentique...Promise Two
Poppies stamp and die from Penny Black
Inks and greeting from Stampin' Up
Pearls from Zva Creative

Simple Tag (Prima Doll)

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink, and I have another Prima Doll project for you all.  It is just a very simple tag - this time I did a little paper piecing with her clothes (I felt like a little girl again.)

Here are the products I used.
  • Prima Doll Stamp
  • Authentique Paper – Abroad Collection “Away”
  • Glitz ‘Yours Truly’ 6 x 6 paper pack
  • Ribbon
  • Black pearls
Here are a couple of close-ups.

What I especially loved about this project was the sentiment, it comes from the top of the 12 x 12 Authentique paper - you know the part we usually trim off and throw away?  I have decided that from here on in I am going to check those strips of paper and cut off the sentiments/quotes and save them for my projects.

See you next time.

Joyful Easter

Happy Sunday!
It's Ceal here (Yep I am back) to share an Easter card with you using supplies that can be found at A Scrap N Place.  The paper I used is from Authentique's Easter collection.  The dies are from two different companies, The basket is from Impression Obsession and the grass die along with the sentiment are from Sweet 'n Sassy. You know I love me some sequins so I used those as my eggs. I added some ribbon and a doily to finish it off.

Butterfly season

I used the same lovely butterfly from Impression Obsession again on this week's card.

I am loving working with that die.  It cuts beautifully, the two layers line up perfectly (well, as good as my old eyes work anyway!).    The circle is cut with a Spellbinders circle...use your choice of size.

Supplies:
White and black cardstock
The golden brown is the reverse side of the Glitz designer paper I've been using for the last couple of cards, the Chevron is Hippity Hoppity paper from Echo Park...and is mounted directly to the card front.
The bow is tied around the top cardstock layer only...from the circle to the edge.  It is crinkly paper ribbon from May Arts that looks like rope until you fan it out...CAREFULLY!  Ask me how I know!
Pearls are Zva Creative

A Gorgeous Patterned Paper

So, I said that I would show you the "front" of that lovely Glitz patterned paper that I used to make the flourish on the butterfly last week.  This card uses it.

The color is actually in a gradient from light to dark on the paper...just gorgeous!

The die is a Die-Namics die from My Favorite Things, called Fancy flourish.  The tips of the swirls are accented with pearls from Zva.  And the ribbon is a luscious wide silk-look ribbon from May Arts.

Hope you enjoy this simple, but elegant card.  Have a great week and I'll have more for you next Friday.

Best Journeys Card (Prima Dolls)

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink, thank you Terri for having me.  Like I said before, I was so excited to find that Terri would be carrying the Prima doll stamps, they are so much fun to play with.

All my posts this month for A Scrap N Place are going to be using the Prima dolls, and I hope that you will see how many different ways you can use them.  Here is my first project.

Here is a list of products I used:
  • Prima Doll Stamp
  • Authentique Paper – Abroad Collection “Away”
  • Glitz ‘Yours Truly’ 6 x 6 paper pack
  • Lace
  • Pearls
  • Flower punch
  • Sentiment (computer generated)

Here are some 'close-ups' showing some of the little details.  I really love the 6x6 paper packs for stamping the clothes, the small prints are just perfect.

Well that's it for today - see you next time.
